Matthew Brown, DO, MBA, is a board-certified psychiatrist who specializes in treating children and adolescents. In 2009, Dr. Brown completed a dual degree program in Kansas City, Missouri, earning his medical degree from Kansas City University's College of Osteopathic Medicine and his master's in business administration in health care leadership from the Helzberg School of Management at Rockhurst University. Dr. Brown completed his adult psychiatry residency at the University of Missouri School of Medicine and fellowship training in child and adolescent psychiatry at the University of Chicago Medical Center.
Dr. Brown has conducted research in attachment theory with a focus on maternal and child mental health issues, including the effects of emotional trauma during pregnancy on children as well as the emotional and behavioral challenges of children who have been abused and neglected. His primary areas of interest are in supplemental, non-pharmacological interventions that not only improve patients' mental health, but also help them find ways of optimizing their recovery. He is a member of the American Academy of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry and the American Psychiatric Association.
