OCD and Anxiety
Bob Mills has managed the Adolescent Center for OCD and Anxiety since it first opened as the Adolescent Center. He and Medical Director Peter Lake, MD, saw the needs of younger patients and worked together to develop a program specifically for teens. Bob has an extensive background of more than 20 years working directly with teens as an experiential and adventure therapist.
“A rewarding aspect of my role is to help parents and their child understand what can be accomplished here. I enjoy assisting families in understanding our program, making sure it’s a good fit. It is important to me that each teen and their family connect with our treatment team and feel that they are creating an individualized treatment plan that they understand and support.
Bob especially enjoys working with members of the treatment team to help teens who are feeling stuck, or feel that there’s no hope for them and then seeing them move forward in treatment.
“It’s a big step for any teen to come forward and accept help with difficult problems. We respect the opportunity we have to assist them in overcoming obstacles that have limited them somehow .Our multidisciplinary team works to provide real experiences that have real world transfer as they leave our program. Our young residents respond well to the balance we have of clinical opportunities blended with experiential and adventure therapy activities.”
